Sanur has a lovely beach and offers fun activities during the day, but trust me when I say the evening is the best part! When the sun goes down Sanur is magical! In this blog post, I will tell you exactly what to do in Sanur at night time. From where to go for the best live music, to delicious desserts and walks by the beach!

Does Sanur Have a Nightlife?
Yes! Don’t expect nightclubs and young crowds but, yes, Sanur has beautiful nightlife! Let me break it down for you. Sanur is very easy to navigate and completely walkable.
There is a walking path right by the beach, here you can find the best live music, desserts, spots to watch the sunset and a lot more.
Everything happens within that street, but also Jalan Hang Tuah and Jl. Danau Tamblingan. I will go into more detail in this blog post, but there is also something else you need to know!
The nightlife in Sanur starts early, around 6PM you should head out for dinner already and expect everything to wrap up by 11 PM max!
Things to Do in Sanur at Night
Now that you have an idea of what the nightlife looks like in Sanur, let me show you a condensed list of the best things to do in Sanur in the evening!
#1 Explore the Sanur Night Market (Pasar Sindhu)
One of the highlights of Sanur’s nightlife is the vibrant Sanur Night Market, also known as Pasar Sindhu. Located on Jalan Danau Tamblingan, this market is a must-visit for food lovers. It comes alive after sunset, with food vendors serving delicious local Balinese dishes and snacks that won’t break the bank.
Try popular items like nasi goreng (fried rice), satay skewers, and pisang goreng (fried banana). You’ll also find stalls with unique drinks and desserts, as well as souvenirs to take home. The market is a fantastic way to experience local culture and cuisine, making it a must-stop for anyone wondering what to do in Sanur at night.
#2 Watch the Sunset at Sanur Beach
Sanur Beach is very well known for its calm waters and incredible sunsets. In the evening the sky turns shades of orange and pink. Many visitors enjoy a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk or find a comfortable spot on the sand to watch the sunset.
If you are a dog lover, you will adore sunset time because there will be many dogs coming to the beach. They play with each other and they don’t bother any tourists. However, if you are scared of dogs I would recommend watching the sunset from a cafe or restaurant.
#3 Enjoy Live Music at Sanur’s Bars
For those who enjoy live music, Sanur has several spots by the sea. There is so much variety, you can move from one to another if you feel like it! The best live music comes from Bamboo Beach Bar & Lounge.
Every day there is a different group playing offering different genres. This is a good place to start, for then moving on towards the Bali Icon shopping centre by the beach. This way you will find at least 3 nice spots for live music.
One is at the Puri santrian restaurant. This is a great place for just a drink or dessert while enjoying the live music. The last time I went there was a DJ playing with a saxophonist and it’s been fantastic.
There is also the Piano Lounge and my favourite Griya Santrian a Beach Resort & Spa. On the last one, sometimes you can literally see the moon appearing behind the singer! It’s absolutely magical!
#4 Get Ice Cream from Gelato Secrets
No evening in Sanur is complete without a visit to Gelato Secrets. This is one of the best gelato places in Bali! Its shops are dotted all around the island and they offer a wide selection of vegan flavours as well!
The ingredients are super fresh and the cone is delicious too! It’s the perfect ice cream to get for wandering through the streets of Sanur after dinner. Popular flavours include coconut, mango, and chocolate, but you’ll also find unique options that reflect the local palate.

#5 Visit the Bali Icon Shopping Centre
If you are up for some shopping (or good air conditioner!), you should visit the Bali Icon Shopping Centre. This place is located right by the beach. You can enter from there or the other access point which is on Jl. Danau Tamblingan.
My go-to place here is Sephora. I tend to get nice face masks, body lotions and other treats for a SPA session at home. They also have different options for clothing, shoes and so on.
The best part is that the shopping centre closes at 10PM so you have all the time in the world to explore Bali Icon – each floor at a time!
#6 Stroll Along Jalan Hang Tuah
Jalan Hang Tuah, a lively street in Sanur, is worth exploring at night. This area has a variety of places to eat, bars, and local shops that stay open until late.
It’s perfect for an evening of casual wandering, with options to grab a late dinner, try local drinks, or browse the shops for unique souvenirs. An alternative to this road is Jl. Danau Tamblingan. There are many nice restaurants here and it leads to Bali Icon Shopping Centre.
#7 Treat Yourself To A Delicious Dinner!
For dinner, in Sanur, you have 2 options. You can either have dinner by the sea or in other places without a sea view but then go back to Sanur Beach Path for dessert or drinks!
My go-to is the second option! I would highly recommend Warung Anna for a delicious local dinner (it’s also very affordable, my Soto Ayam was under $2!) and then going to Griya Santrian a Beach Resort & Spa. Here you can get a delicious chocolate lava cake and a drink while enjoying live music!
If you want to opt for a place by the beach, Coco Bistro and Tapha are some great options. The last one, in particular, looks absolutely dreamy during sunset!

#8 Walk Along the Sanur Beach Path
The Sanur Beach Path is a scenic coastal pathway that stretches along the coastline and it’s perfect for an evening walk by the Ocean. This path is often split in 2, one side for bike riders and the other for those who want to walk.
It’s definitely popular among locals and visitors. You will see couples sitting by the beach to watch the night waves and the bright moon. It’s also the best way to get some cool air after a boiling hot day by the beach!
#9 Indulge in a Spa Treatment
When walking by the beach, the most popular word you will hear will be “massage?”! Well, one of these times you could just stop and go for it! If you are not feeling that adventurous, you can always book your appointment at The Nest Boutique SPA. Just remember it closes at 8PM so you have to reserve your slot before then!
Is Sanur Safe at Night?
Yes, Sanur is known for being one of the safest areas in Bali, which is why it’s a popular destination for families and solo travellers. The streets are well-lit, and there’s a welcoming community feel that makes it comfortable to walk around even after dark.
Many hotels, such as the Maya Sanur Resort, offer shuttle services for added convenience. However, you can always book a Grab scooter or car to go back to your accommodation. I normally walk home, sometimes with the torch on my phone for when the light is not bright enough!
