About Silvia
Hey there, I’m Silvia!
I used to live what looked like the perfect life in London. I had a good job in tech, a beautiful apartment with no insects, perfect nails and hair, and all the comforts that made life easy.
Until I realised I was chasing what looked right rather than what felt right. What I truly wanted was a simple life, a deeper sense of belonging, and a closer connection to nature. I longed for slow mornings, for sunsets that made me feel something, and for a rhythm that London could never give me.
So I left and moved to Bali. Here I live close to nature, work barefoot and embrace a beautiful culture. These days, you will find me at local ceremonies, practising my broken Bahasa Indonesia, sharing space with tropical animals and eating way too many pisang goreng.
Since 2020, I have been moving between London and Bali, until finally making the leap in 2024 with only a carry-on and a backpack.
What to expect on this blog 💛
On The Good Observer Blog, I will show you the REAL Bali. I don’t live in one place, accustomed to Western comforts, I actually experience life in villages by myself with my broken Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian)
I will take you through different places in Bali that are worth visiting, where to stay (especially if you’re a female solo traveller) and where to eat!
For all my fellow solo travellers who are visiting Bali for the first time, you will be able to know key information such as where to find tampons (not commonly sold here!) and how to avoid Bali belly!
You will also find really good tips on visa runs from Bali (good to know if you are staying for more than a month!) and tips on layovers at key airports on your way here!
Ready? Start from here! ⬇️
