I’m going to list the top 5 laundry shops in Ubud. There are many more but here you can go with your eyes closed! They are all dotted around the centre so they are easy to find with little to no effort at all. How can you choose the best one? Well, the first 3 options are completely eco-friendly and they also have a self-service option in case you want to handle your washing yourself. The other 2 a very small and family-owned businesses, I don’t know for sure if they are eco-friendly but they were the closest to my accommodation and I loved their service!

There are funny stories about people counting their items before going to a laundry shop in Bali because you won’t get everything back – however, this place is completely trustworthy and so is the next one!

I know what you’re thinking – why are you taking me to a motorbike rental? Well, I walked passed Pande Motorbike Rental years ago and noticed they have a laundry service! It’s actually an excellent one too!

Why Your Laundry Might Be Delayed
Ubud, like many parts of Bali, has a rich cultural tapestry filled with local ceremonies and festivals. These events can sometimes disrupt normal business hours, including laundry services. Ceremonies such as Galungan, Kuningan, and Nyepi are significant in Balinese culture and can result in businesses closing or operating with reduced hours. Itโs always a good idea to check the local calendar or ask the shop directly if any upcoming events might affect your laundry schedule.
If you’re looking for an urgent wash I would suggest going to a self-service laundry shop (the first tree I listed).
When to Use Laundry Services
- During the Rainy Season: Baliโs rainy season typically runs from November to March. During this time, humidity is high, and drying clothes can be challenging. Utilizing laundry services ensures your clothes are properly cleaned and dried, preventing any musty smells. I would highly recommend taking your clothes to the laundry store at this time of the year, otherwise, your clothes can take over a week to get dry and they would smell awful!
- During the dry season: From April to October, Bali experiences its dry season. While you can wash your clothes and dry them outside, using a laundry service can save you time and effort, allowing you to enjoy your holiday more fully. I would suggest this travel soup if you are opting for washing your clothes by yourself.
What About Hotel Laundry Services?
While convenient, hotel laundry services in Ubud are generally more expensive compared to local laundry shops. Hotels often charge per item, with prices ranging from IDR 10,000 to IDR 30,000 for smaller items like t-shirts and underwear, and up to IDR 50,000 or more for larger items like dresses or trousers.
This can add up quickly, making local laundry shops a more cost-effective option. It’s also a nice way to interact with locals! If you are busy, ask the laundry shop to arrange a delivery for you, so you can receive everything in the comfort of your accommodation.
Last Tips
One last tip before heading to the laundry shop – make sure you bring some change. If you end up opting for a small local laundry shop leave them your bag and ask to return your clothes in that bag.
This is because otherwise, they would give you a single-use plastic bag, which is something you want to avoid. If you use fabric period pads, they can wash them for you. Just make sure you pre-wash them lightly by your accommodation.
