Iโve visited Amed alone a few times now โ both right in the centre and just outside it โ and every trip felt safe, relaxing, and fun. Amed is much quieter than the usual Bali hotspots, so itโs ideal if you want a break from crowds. Itโs also easy to meet people here, especially if youโre into snorkelling, diving, or just hanging out at local cafes.
Each time I stayed, the accommodation hosts were incredibly kind. They often tried to involve me in family life or helped me plan activities around Amed, which made the experience feel more personal.
My favourite place so far has been Hidden Paradise Cottages. Itโs right on my favourite beach, the rooms are nice, and it’s located in a walkable area!

Here are my top 5 picks I always recommend all my girlfriends! Some are super simple and others are more on the bougie side!

#1 Hidden Paradise Cottages

Hidden Paradise Cottages is in the perfect location, if you ask me! I saw this place for the first time when I went to Lipah Beach for a day.
I explored the property and fell in love with it! Each cottage is very well-designed; they even have a pool and sunbeds on the beach.
The back of the property is on the main street around Lipah Beach. Here, there are quite a few places to eat, cute small shops and well-stocked supermarkets.

#2 Onlyou Villas

I’ve also spotted Onlyou Villas while walking on Lipah Beach! These villas are really special.
Most of them come with a private room, the interiors and bed sheets are stunning and you get amazing views of the beach.
You can literally fall asleep listening to the waves. I love that! What I like the most about this place is that is super central and you don’t need any transport to get around.

#3 Alur Beach Homestay
Alur Beach Homestay has a special place in my heart. Their rooms are right by the beach. They are super clean, comfortable, spacious and bright!
What I loved the most here were the hosts. They really make you feel like you are part of their family. It’s nice to see hosts always smiley, caring and helpful. The stay would also include a lovely breakfast, which is included in the $20!
If you need a taxi to move around, the hosts will provide a driver too! Keep in mind that Amed doesn’t have Gojek or Grab Taxi!
The location here is PERFECT! Right in the centre of Amed. You can walk to trendy cafes from here, watch the best sunsets and snorkel.

#4 The Griya Villas and Spa
I don’t know about you but I love places that have EVERYTHING (especially the gym!). In Amed, that’s The Griya Villas and Spa.
You get amazing sea views over Lipah beach but still within a walkable distance from the beach (it took me 5 minutes to access the beach from there).
Each villa comes with an incredible swimming pool and kitchen too, in case you want to make something quick.
In a place like that, I would rarely leave my villa, but in case you need something, you have access to supermarkets, restaurants and cafes.

#5 Coral View Villas
Coral View Villas are also located by Lipah Beach, so you can get all the snorkelling and swimming you want right by your accommodation!
The staff who run the property are really nice and sweet, which is lovely when you travel alone.
You also get all the comfort and privacy if you want to be on your own or read your book by the pool.

FAQ: Answering Your Burning Questions
I stayed in both places and loved them, but it really depends on what you’re looking for.
But if you’re a diving enthusiast, you might tilt towards Tulamben for its famous shipwreck dive.
However, if you stay in Amed, you have more amenities nearby, including trendy cafes and more choices of restaurants.
Three to four days would be just about right to enjoy Amed. It gives you ample time to explore the beaches and go on a few trips in East Amed.
Obviously, if you can stay longer I would recommend it. The local fishermen’s culture is very interesting and I actually lived here for some time!
Absolutely yes! You get a break from the busy touristy spots and enjoy some really good snorkelling!

Amed is a solid choice for solo travellers โ quiet, friendly, and easy to explore. If I was to pick on of the places above I would definitely go for Alur Beach or Onlyou as they are both close to really nice beaches and are in walkable areas.
