The Best Manicure Spots in Bali for Solo Travelers

If you’re heading to Bali for your next trip, you might not know this but you could get an amazing manicure! I would definitely recommend it especially if it’s one of these days when it’s raining or just can’t enjoy the beach. However, you need to know where to go. In this blog post, I will tell you exactly what are the locations on the island and salons to get the best manicure in Bali.

Best Locations To Find A Good Nail Salon In Bali

Before diving into the salons for an amazing manicure in Bali, let me tell you roughly where you can find them on the island.

#1 Canggu

This is the number 1 location. Here you can find the best ones. I will list some below but you can totally relay on an excellent manicure here within a wide range of prices. Here you can really go wild with creativity and you know they would use the best equipment to deliver an incredible service.

#2 Uluwatu

Nowhere else can top Canggu’s salons, however, in Uluwatu you can still find a good service. You won’t find many of them but I will list you some below.

#3 Gili Trawangan

This island is not part of Bali but Lombok, however a lot of people would include Gili T in their itinerary. I wouldn’t rely on them to remove gel – unless it’s urgent. You can find ok salons here but they don’t have the most advanced tools. So removing a gel manicure here could take FOREVER. However, if you want to apply gel or a normal manicure, yes that would be fine.

My Experience with Manicures in Bali

I’ve had different experiences when it comes to manicures in Bali. The salons in Canggu are definitely operating at super high standards at the level if not above western salons. The worst service I had was definitely in Ubud. I had to remove a gel manicure and it’s been a nightmare. I’ve been to 2 salons on the same day and between them it took me 6 hours to remove it. They didn’t have strong acetone or anything that was going to do the trick. So they literally filed the manicure by hand. I’ve also asked to do a normal manicure after that and their nail varnish was old and bubbly. It’s definitely not their fault, they really try with what they have but it’s a shame to spend 6 hours like this in Bali. So I would strongly recommend only going to really good salons unless you want to do your nails by yourself (check the end of this blog post for some tips).

Tips for Nail Salons in Bali

👉 Book in Advance

Bali’s best spas can get busy, especially during peak travel seasons. Booking in advance ensures you get your preferred time slot.

👉 Check Reviews and Images

Before heading to a spa, check online reviews for feedback from other travellers. This helps in choosing a place that matches your expectations. This is especially true if you are looking for nail art. Go through their Instagram account or images shared on Google so that you can understand the style of the artist. Sometimes I even show up before booking and talk through the design I’m looking for. I would get my inspiration from Pinterest or Instagram and head to the salon with some pictures to see if they can accommodate what I’m after.

What About Doing It Yourself?

If you’re based on other sides of the island where salons are not really a thing or not advanced enough then you should bring yours. I will list down some good brands that are actually vegan and not toxic. You can find them easily on Amazon before going to Bali:

  • NAILKIND nail polish: is a relatively new brand in the nail polish industry, known for its eco-friendly and vegan products. The brand emphasizes using plant-based ingredients and ensuring its products are cruelty-free. Their nail polishes are free from harmful chemicals like formaldehyde, toluene, and phthalates. Average Price: The average price for one bottle of NAILKIND nail polish is around $10-$12.
  • Nails.INC nail polish: Nails.INC is a popular British brand that offers a wide range of nail care products, including innovative nail polishes. They are known for their high-quality formulas and trendy shades. Nails.INC also frequently collaborates with celebrities and designers, bringing unique collections to the market. They focus on creating long-lasting, highly pigmented polishes that cater to the latest fashion trends. Average Price: The average price for one bottle of Nails.INC nail polish is around $15-$20.
  • Sally Hansen nail polish: Sally Hansen is one of the most well-known and long-standing brands in the nail care industry. Founded in the 1950s, the brand offers a comprehensive range of nail care products, including nail polishes, treatments, and tools. Sally Hansen is known for its affordable yet high-quality products that are widely available in drugstores and supermarkets. Their polishes often include strengthening and nourishing ingredients to promote healthier nails. Average Price: The average price for one bottle of Sally Hansen nail polish is around $5-$9.

Conclusion

I hope this blog post has been useful when it comes to finding the best manicure in Bali. Getting your nails done here is lovely, especially when it rains and you can’t spend time outside anyway. However, if you don’t care much about nail art and only want a quick manicure I would suggest buying some of the toxic-free nail polishes I recommended above and doing it yourself on the go. Actually, some salons are happy to apply your own nail polish if you bring it, so that could be something new to try too!

Ciao for now,
