If you’re flying in or out of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and wondering where to shower, you’re not alone. I’ve been through Jakarta airport quite a few times and while it’s not the most glamorous stopover hub, there are options if you want to freshen up.
Whether you’re arriving after a long-haul flight, heading out on another one, or just have a long layover, here’s how to get clean, rested, and reset.
Let’s start with the easiest one.
Quick Overview:
| Lounge | Terminal | How to Book |
|---|---|---|
| Plaza Premium Lounge | Terminal 3 (International Departures) | 👉 Book with Viator |
| Garuda Indonesia Lounge | Terminal 3 | Access via Business Class / SkyTeam Elite Plus |
| Saphire Blue Sky Lounge | Terminal 3 | 👉 Use Priority Pass |
| Premier Lounge | Terminal 2 | 👉 Use Priority Pass |
Shower at Plaza Premium Lounge (T3 International Departures)
This is the most convenient option and the one I personally recommend if you don’t have lounge access through your airline.
You can book the Plaza Premium Lounge at Jakarta Airport in advance. This includes access to their private shower rooms, plus snacks, Wi-Fi, and drinks. Honestly, I think this is the most convenient way to shower at the airport (if you are in Terminal 3!).
You don’t need to be flying business class to get in. Just pre-book a pass online and show your confirmation at the entrance. I usually book through Viator here:
👉 Reserve your spot at Plaza Premium Lounge
Once inside, you’ll get access to:
- Clean private shower rooms
- Towels and toiletries (you don’t need to bring anything)
- Lounge seating with food, drinks, and Wi-Fi
This is especially great if you have a long night flight or you’ve landed early and your hotel check-in isn’t for hours. Just chill here for a bit, shower, grab a snack, and you’ll feel like a new person.
Other Lounge Options With Showers

If you already have lounge access through your airline, credit card or a lounge membership like Priority Pass, there are a few other lounges with shower facilities:
- Garuda Indonesia Lounge (T3): Only accessible to business class passengers or SkyTeam Elite Plus
- Saphire Blue Sky Lounge (T3): Some terminals have this option, but access varies by location and airline. Accessible on Priority Pass
- Premier Lounge (T2): More basic, but includes showers. Available for Priority Pass holders.
👉 Explore lounge availability on Priority Pass!
If you’ve never heard of this lounge pass, it’s a convenient option to have for when you know you will be travelling a lot during the year.
Priority Pass gives you access to many airport lounges worldwide, all included in one membership.
If your travel plans are more sporadic, I recommend booking the lounge through Viator for this occasion.
Best Hotels Near The Airport
If you have a long layover at Soekarno Hatta and want a proper bed and shower instead of a lounge chair, there are a few solid hotel options nearby:
👉 I highly recommend The Sheraton Jakarta Soekarno Hatta Airport! It’s close to the terminals and has a free airport shuttle you can book in advance. It’s one of the most comfortable options for a short overnight stay.
Other hotel options near the airport include:
👉 Anara Airport Hotel inside Terminal 3
👉 Jakarta Airport Hotel inside Terminal 2
If you have more time and want to stay in the city, The Hermitage Jakarta is the best option!
It’s in Menteng, about an hour from the airport, depending on traffic. The area is walkable and there are a few local food spots nearby.
It’s also easy to order a Grab if you want to explore other parts of Jakarta.

Distance From Jakarta Airport To The City Centre
The distance from Jakarta Airport, also known as Soekarno Hatta International Airport or CGK, to the city centre is around 30 kilometres.
The exact travel time depends on traffic, which can be heavy and unpredictable in Jakarta. In light traffic, it might take 45 minutes, but during peak hours, the journey can easily stretch to two hours.
The airport is located in Tangerang, just west of the capital, so if you’re heading to areas like Central Jakarta, Sudirman or Menteng, plan accordingly.
How to get from Jakarta airport to the city centre
If you don’t want to deal with taxi haggling (been there), I always recommend booking a private transfer in advance. It’s honestly the smoothest way to get to your hotel without having to explain your address mid-traffic.
I’ve used Klook many times for this and they’re super reliable. The drivers wait at arrivals with your name on a sign and take you straight to your accommodation.

Got A Long Layover? Take This Short City Tour!
If your layover is longer than 6 hours and you’ve already showered and rested, there’s actually time to see a bit of Jakarta.
This half-day Jakarta tour picks you up right from the airport and takes you to see key landmarks like the National Monument and Kota Tua (the old town).
It’s a nice way to break up the wait and stretch your legs a bit.
FAQs About Shower Facilities at Jakarta Airport
Yes, you can, but not for free. Showers are only available inside certain lounges. There are no public shower rooms at Soekarno Hatta International Airport.
Yes. You can buy one-time access to the Plaza Premium Lounge even if you’re flying economy. Booking in advance through Klook or Viator is recommended, especially during busy travel times.
Yes. Shower rooms at the Plaza Premium Lounge are private and well-maintained. Towels and toiletries are usually included.
If you’re not in Terminal 3, it may be hard to access the Plaza Premium Lounge unless you’re on a long layover and have time to switch terminals. There’s no airside connection between terminals, so check the visa requirements to see if so can go landside.

✍️ Solo Travel Planning Guide 🌴
Before you start your unforgettable adventures to a new country, here are the essential tips every solo traveller should know:
📱 Should I get an eSIM?
✅ Yes. Having data from the moment you land makes your trip so much easier. I recommend Ubigi eSIM, which connects instantly without queuing at the airport for a SIM card and works better than other eSIMs I have tested. 👉 Check current plans here
🚑 Should I buy travel insurance when travelling alone?
✅ 100% YES! — My #1 safety tip for all travellers is to buy travel insurance for every trip in case anything happens during their visit. I highly recommend HeyMondo – you get 24/7 support and it’s budget-friendly!
🏩 What’s the best way to book my accommodations?
My go-to for hotels or hostels is Booking.com. For hostels, I normally go for Hostelworld (you can also filter by private rooms if you want!). If you love pets you should consider Trusted Housesitters, you would get free accommodation in exchange for looking after amazing pets ❤️
✈️ Where can I book my flight?
Skyscanner is definitely the best one out there! I love their “explore everywhere” function for when I need inspiration on where to go next! If you will embark into a long flight and you love showering in between flights or just using the lounges in airports all over the world, check out Lounge Passes on Klook, GetYourGuide or get a lounge membership on Priority Pass!
🚕 How can I book my taxi in advance from the airport to my accommodation?
I always recommend reserving your taxi in advance via Klook.com. This is because it will ask you for flight details and the driver will be able to track your flight in real time. I would book my taxi especially when I fly to new places or get there at night time! If you want to rent a car instead, use DiscoverCars, they have cars available to pick up right at the airport!
🐒 What’s the best way to book my activities?
Get Your Guide and Viator are the best ones. You can go through the reviews to learn more about each activity and they have amazing customer support!
