Guide To Shower Facilities at BKK Airport

If you are travelling to one of Thailand’s most famous beach destinations or anywhere in Asia, it’s very likely you will have a connecting flight at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK).

This is one of Asia’s biggest airports, and it’s perfect for layovers, especially for those who want to get a nice shower in between flights. It’s also the closest airport to Bangkok city center which is perfect if you want to explore the city during a long layover and run back to the airport.

Ready?

Let’s go!

Before diving into everything BKK Airport offers, make sure you’re ready for your layover! Download my free Layover Packing Checklist to stay organised and stress-free. ➡️ Click here to grab it now.

Are Free Showers Available at BKK Airport?

Shower facility at BKK airport lounge

Unfortunately there are no free showers available; you will have to go for a paid lounge. To be honest, it’s not as bad as it sounds because you also get access to a delicious buffet and you can wait for your flight in a relaxing setting while charging your phone! The time and money you would spend to get the same around the airport would actually be greater than a lounge pass, and it’s all in one place!

💡 Did you know some airports do offer free showers? Dubai Airport and Kuala Lumpur Airport do!

If you are like me in between flights, you would look and feel like a zombie. All you will want is to stay in one place and never move!

Now, the other thing you need to know is that not all lounges at BKK airport offer shower facilities. But here is when I step in and guide you to exactly where to go in order to refresh and come back to life before your next flight!

Here it goes…

Best Lounges with Shower Facilities at BKK Airport

As mentioned before, not all the lounges have shower facilities, so make sure you check out these 2:

Miracle Lounge

A convenient option for passengers departing from Bangkok, the Miracle Lounge provides essential amenities to refresh and recharge before a flight.

  • Services Offered: Three-hour lounge access with hot and cold dishes prepared by The Miracle Group Hotel chef, available 24/7. Guests can also enjoy unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, free Wi-Fi, and access to shower rooms and a prayer room.
  • Cost: $30 per person.
  • Location: Available in multiple concourses (A, C, D, F, G, and G Block 1) in the international departures terminal, after immigration.

Coral Executive Lounge

This lounge is stunning and quite popular for the quality of food provided. When reserving the Coral Executive Lounge, you will see a few options for different price points. Some people would also take a quick nap on the sofa after having food and a quick shower. So if you are super tired, it’s nice to know you can squeeze a power nap!

Now let’s see what’s included in this lounge (bear in mind it really depends on what you select, so this is just to give you an idea):

  • Services Offered: A three-hour stay includes food, drinks, flight monitors, television, and Wi-Fi. Shower rooms, quiet rooms, and a shoulder massage are available, though subject to availability.
  • Cost: Starts at $20 per person.
  • Location: 3rd Floor, International Departure Concourse D

🚿 Cheap shower alternative if you are in Bangkok

In case you are in Bangkok city center and heading to the airport, there is a really affordable shower located in Centerpoint Siam. This is a perfect option if you went for a long day trip (for example I went to Ayuttaya) and head to the airport straight after. Stopping here for a quick shower before a long flight is a really good option. Let’s get to the details:

It’s called Easydrop Bangkok, and here is all you need to know:

  • Services Offered: A private shower room equipped with fresh towels, shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, a hairdryer, and even a hair straightener.
  • Cost: $5.29 per session.
  • Where is it?: 2nd Floor inside Centerpoint Siam (BTS Siam Exit 2)

Ideas for Making the Most of Your Layover in Bangkok

Shower facilities at BKK airport. Things to do during a layover in Bangkok. Image showing Silvia on a boat looking at Wat Arung

If you have 5+ hours before your next flight, why not use your layover to explore Bangkok?

Book your driver in advance via 👉🏽 Klook.com to take you to the city and make sure you have your eSIM sorted before heading out of the airport so you always have data! 👉🏽I use Ubigi eSIM for this and you can get 10% off with the code OBSERVER10.

If you have a long layover and are wondering what to do in Bangkok, here are a few quick options:

#1 Visit the Grand Palace

This is a must in Bangkok. One of these places that you won’t forget easily. Here you can learn all about Bangkok’s history (and Thailand as a whole) and see the stunning Emerald Buddha. If you prefer booking a tour, I recommend this one because it also includes Wat Arun, which is a stunning temple!

#2 Go for a local Food Tour

Thai food is delish, and if you are a foodie, you will love this!

👉🏽 Get this local food tour through Get Your Guide so that you can go straight to the must-try gems.

If you want to explore the food scene alone, head to Chinatown with an empty stomach!

#3 Book Your Chao Phraya River Cruise

This is something you can’t miss if you are staying the night.

I’ve been to Bangkok numerous times now and 👉🏽 I book this cruise every single time (even same boat!!).

The buffet is really good (yes I love buffets!), you get a traditional show and a beautiful view over temples and modern buildings lit up at night time. It’s a fantastic experience and it’s actually pretty affordable for the value you get!

#4 Get A Traditional Thai Massage

Some people love Thai massages, and some others would say they are absolute torture. My experience is initial torture and then feeling amazing the day after!

So if you like strong massages, get one for sure. Don’t expect a Balinese massage though – this one is pretty hands (and sometimes knees) on!

#5 Go to a floating market

This is one of the highlights of Bangkok. There are quite a few options. The touristy one is Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, and you can get a guided tour to take you through it all as it’s very busy.

Otherwise, the alternative would be Khlong Bang Luang Market, which is my go-to! However, there aren’t many floating markets per se, it’s just a cool area to hang out!

Remember to factor in travel time to and from the airport when planning your activities to ensure you don’t miss your flight!

What to Do with Your Luggage?

Luggage storage at BKK airport

At this point, you might be wondering where your luggage will be while you’re having the best time in Bangkok – well, don’t worry, I’ve got you covered!

Luggage Storage at the airport

If you want to store your bags at the airport for a few hours, SmileLugg provides affordable and secure options.

Rates: Starting from about $3 per item for short-term storage.

Location: Near the arrivals area for easy access.

Luggage Delivery To Your Hotel

If you are staying the night in Bangkok or another destination, you can get your luggage delivered wherever you want so that you can wander around Bangkok hands-free!

For example, you can deliver your suitcase to your hotel while you go to a cool floating market during the day, how about that? You save the time you would spend going to the hotel and then leaving again.

Rates: From $6

Location: BKK airport arrivals, floor B

Hotels Near BKK Airport

If you need a place to stay close to BKK airport, here are a few options:

➡️ Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport

➡️ Siam Mandarina Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel

➡️ Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport

However, keep in mind that this airport is really close to the centre, so you could even choose a place in the city!

My favourite is 👉🏽 Tamni, which I think is definitely one of the best places to stay in Bangkok!

Transportation Options To and From BKK Airport

Shower facilities at BKK airport. Transport available at BKK airport to go to the city center

Suvarnabhumi Airport is well-connected to central Bangkok, with several reliable transportation options:

1. Airport Rail Link

The Airport Rail Link offers a quick and affordable way to reach downtown Bangkok. You could take either MRT (Subway) or BTS, which is the Skytrain. Check Google Maps for the updated timelines and distance, but generally it takes about 45 minutes to get to Bangkok city center!

2. Private Transfers

If you are getting to the airport late at night or want to opt for the most comfortable option, go for private transfers. It’s actually pretty affordable!

Book yours on Klook.com which is the best site for Bangkok.

3. Hailing Apps

Another alternative is to call Bolt or Grab. However, please note that they are super busy at the airport, so it will take a long time to book your ride.

I would reserve a private driver in advance instead – prices are not that much different anyway!

4. Car rental

You can totally rent a car from the airport via DiscoverCars.com.

FAQs About Shower Facilities at BKK Airport

Are there water fountains at the airport?

Yes, water fountains are available throughout the airport. Bringing a refillable water bottle is a good idea for staying hydrated.

Can I book lounges in advance?

Absolutely. Booking in advance not only guarantees your spot but often comes with discounts or package deals.

What’s the best option for travellers with limited time?

If you’re short on time and can’t use a lounge, pack some water-based wipes to freshen up quickly. For layovers under 3 hours, it’s best to stay in the terminal, grab a quick bite, and rest near your gate.

What can I do inside Bangkok International Airport during a 6-hour layover?

If you have 6 hours, you can relax in a lounge, take a shower, shop, or grab a meal. But if your bags are checked through and you have your onward boarding pass, it’s worth leaving the airport. You can store your hand luggage and head into the city for a quick tour or a local meal before heading back in time for your next flight.

Green travel backpack and carry on suitcase sit beside airport seats with a plane visible through the terminal window. Headphones toiletries a sleep mask earplugs and a reusable water bottle are arranged with the backpack as travel essentials.

Worried about wasting hours at the airport?

Grab this free packing list so you stay fresh, comfortable and prepared at the airport.

What else?

A few more tips before you go. Although BKK airport is huge, there aren’t many healthy options, especially if you are flying domestically (for example, if you are going to Krabi).

So if you’re not using the lounge, make sure to bring some snacks for your layover unless you want to end up with a burger! The other tip is to make sure you have your travel insurance sorted!

I recommend HeyMondo. It’s really easy to use, affordable and with great customer service!

Ciao for now,
