Hotel Review: My Stay At The Radisson Blu Resort in Uluwatu As A Solo Traveller

Is the Radisson Blu Resort in Uluwatu worth the splurge when you’re travelling solo? I asked myself that exact question as I limped into the lobby, fresh from a hospital visit, just hoping for a bit of peace and pampering.

I paid for my own stay (no sponsorships, no comped nights) so this is an honest, firsthand review of what itโ€™s really like to stay at this luxury resort alone. And trust me, when youโ€™re shelling out $250 to $500 a night for a suite in Bali, you want to be absolutely sure you’re getting more than just a pretty view.

Whether you’re a solo traveller looking to treat yourself or you’re simply trying to decide if the Radisson Blu lives up to its price tag, Iโ€™ve got you covered. From secret beach access to monkey encounters and surprise prosecco deliveries, Iโ€™ll take you through the full experience.

Letโ€™s get into it.

Arrival and First Impressions

welcome desserts and drinks at the Radisson Blue Resort in my hotel room

I fell in love with the resort the minute I stepped in! I’m not used to luxury, and this place looks really high-end as soon as you step out of the taxi! I was enveloped in a warm Balinese welcome. The lobby, with its stunning views of the pool and the Ocean, set the tone for my stay.

The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring my check-in was smooth and hassle-free. I felt immediately at ease, which is essential for any solo traveller who is tired and sweaty! I also have quite a few allergies, and they took good care of me from start to finish!

The check-in was super easy, the room was ready even before the expected time, which is always a blessing! As soon as I entered the room, there was a welcome bottle of prosecco and delicious desserts!

I felt relaxed and looked after immediately. At this point, I was also injured and had just come back from the hospital in Depensar, so I loved the luxury and attention I got straight away!

Location of The Radisson Blu Resort in Uluwatu

Uluwatu is famous for its cliffs, surfing scene and stunning beaches. Well, if you stay at the Radisson Blu Resort, you can check all of these off your list! In fact, it’s located on a cliff, just near the best beaches in Uluwatu.

This place is also ideal for anyone who loves surfing because from here you can literally walk to incredible surf spots. I will also tell you a secret. When you check in, you will be given your room pass, which, surprise, surprise, opens a secret door!

Make sure to ask the staff for this door, but basically, from there, you can walk to the beach. The nearest beach you can reach is Impossible Beach, and if you walk a bit longer, Bingin Beach.

Literally, no one knew about this back door because it’s not the official entrance. But if you are a surfer, you would want to know about that door!

Rooms At The Radisson Blu Resort in Uluwatu

Silvia enjoying the sunset from the balcony of her room at the Radisson Blu Resort in Uluwatu

I got the suite with a sea view, which is one of the highest rooms they have in their buildings, and the view took my breath away! My room was a spacious haven, with modern dรฉcor and an inviting atmosphere.

With a king-sized bed adorned with soft linens and a private balcony offering breathtaking views, I couldnโ€™t have asked for a better place to relax and heal from my injuries. The room also featured a well-equipped bathroom with luxurious amenities, adding to the overall experience of comfort.

๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ Quiet rooms, ocean views, and staff who remember your name! ๐Ÿ‘‰ check rates and book your room here!

Monkeys On The Balcony

Just like anywhere in Uluwatu, you will have monkeys at the resort as well. What does it mean? Leaving your belongings or even your washing on the balcony is a big no-no. Unless you are there too, and it’s not early in the morning.

They normally come super early in the morning and then late in the afternoon. The time would change based on the season and the decision of the leader of the monkey group! Monkeys will be everywhere around the hotel at least twice a day.

This means you shouldn’t leave any food outside the door if you ordered room service, or if you are chilling by the pool, remember not to leave any food. If you are scared of monkeys, you can always call reception, and someone will come to escort you wherever you need to go.

Not sure where to stay solo in Uluwatu? ๐Ÿ‘‰ This resort is not just comfortable and luxurious – you also get body guards if you are terrified of monkeys!

Room Cleaning At The Radisson Blu Resort

This has never happened to me before, but basically at the Radisson Blu Resort, your room is done once a day and re-touched other times during the day! That blew my mind completely, or maybe it’s a thing all luxury hotels do, but I didn’t have a clue!

I would come back from the day on the beach and the towels would be super tidy, the curtains closed for night time, and a small chocolate would be placed on my pillow. I thought it was pure magic! The room was always tidy and clean 24/7!

From daily room refreshes to prosecco welcomes, ๐Ÿ‘‰ this hotel goes above the basics โ€” and it shows!

Dining Options At The Radisson Blu Resort

When it comes to food, my stay at the Radisson Blu Resort in Uluwatu as a solo traveller has been magnificent, let me tell you why! One of the highlights of my stay was the dining experience at the resort. As I mentioned before, I was injured, so I didn’t really want to leave often to head to the restaurant.

This gave me the chance to try one of the restaurants at The Radisson Blu fully! I went quite a few times to Filini which is their Italian restaurant. They also have other options and 2 bars. However, I decided to stick to Filini because of the amazing tables right by the pool and the mouth-watering menu!

As an Italian, I’m normally sceptical about Italian restaurants abroad, but I have to say Filini was pretty decent! From the bread all the way to mains and desserts, so I would surely recommend it!

Buffet breakfasts with local dishes and full attention to dietary needs ๐Ÿ‘‰ book your stay at Radisson Blu Uluwatu

The Breakfast Buffet Is Amazing!

The breakfast buffet at the Radisson Blu is worth a mention. It was included in my stay and when that’s the case, I would normally go all out. To the point where I don’t even have lunch – that’s how full I get over a breakfast buffet. I have to say that breakfast at the Radisson Blue Resort is something else!

There is everything you could think of, and are careful about allergies too. In addition to the usual continental offerings, you can try local specialities like Nasi Goreng (fried rice) and Mie Goreng (fried noodles). This gives you a taste of Bali right from the start of your day.

The attentive staff ensured my hot drink was always topped up, allowing me to indulge in my morning routine without interruption. The quality and variety of the buffet were incredible. I would normally start with an omelette, then move to yoghurt with fruits and pastries and waffles or pancakes (I told you I go all out for a breakfast buffet!).

Itโ€™s rare to find a luxury hotel that feels this personal โ€” ๐Ÿ‘‰ click to book Radisson Blu Uluwatu and see for yourself!

The Gym and Pool

My stay at the Radisson Blu Resort in Uluwatu as a solo traveller. Pool at the resort.

For those looking to maintain their fitness routine while away, the resort’s gym is well-equipped with modern exercise machines. It also includes free weights and ample space for yoga or stretching.

I took advantage of the gym during my stay, and it was refreshing to work out with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The facilities were clean, and the atmosphere was motivating, perfect for a solo workout. I loved the treadmills; they were really up-to-date and cool to use.

The gym is not that big, but it has everything you need. There was enough room for a HIIT workout, yoga and some pilates!

The pool is huge! It’s both for adults and children, as it’s shallow in some points and deeper in others. I love that you can sit inside the pool as well to just relax if you don’t want to swim all the time.

You get a towel when going to the gym; for this, you need to register your time of check-in and out of the pool (just like many other resorts). You get full service by the sunbed as well, in case you want any drinks or snacks (a bit too fancy for me, so I haven’t tried it).

Spa Treatments at The Radisson Blu Resort in Uluwatu

This is my favourite bit! Included in my stay was a free massage. I mean, when does that happen? In my world, NEVER. So I had to take advantage immediately. Let me tell you a bit more about the SPA experience you can expect here.

First of all, you have to book in advance, at least a day earlier. Let’s move to the juicy things now!

The Spa Interiors

Spa interiors at the Radisson Blu Resort in Uluwatu

Maybe I’ve never been to a luxurious SPA, but the interiors of the SPA at the Radisson Blu Resort are out of this world! High ceiling, relaxing music, comfy sofas (I would nap there for sure), modern design and cute magazines. I wish I could live there! This was only the waiting room, by the way!

The Massage Experience

Silvia ready for the spa at the Radisson Blu Resort in Uluwatu

A member of staff will call you from the waiting room and take you to a cosy changing room where you will get your underwear and stunning robe! The changing room comes with a shower as well, so you can get rid of the oil after the massage if you want to.

I had a deep tissue massage for 1 hour, and I felt so relaxed I fell asleep in no time! The room was very spacious and I loved every minute of my massage, including the final head massage.

Cultural Activities Offered By The Resort

Kecak dance at the Uluwatu Temple in Bali

The Radisson Blu Resort also organises various cultural activities throughout the day. These range from traditional Balinese dance lessons to cooking classes, offering guests a chance to immerse themselves in the rich culture of Bali.

There are activities for children and adults. Every day, there is a wide range of activities or local tours. However, the local tours were a bit more pricey, I would say.

๐Ÿ›•TOP TIP! If you want to plan your own cultural activity, I would highly recommend ๐Ÿ‘‰ this tour to the Uluwatu Temple and Kecak dance. Your guide would be a lovely local man called Made. He not only explains everything about the temple, but he also makes sure you have the best seats for the Kecak dance and takes amazing pictures!

Downsides of Staying at the Radisson Blu Resort As A Solo Traveller

My stay at the Radisson Blu Resort in Uluwatu as a solo traveller. View from the top of the Radisson Blue Resort

My stay at the Radisson Blu Resort in Uluwatu as a solo traveller has been amazing. However, there are a few things to consider. While my stay was largely positive, there were a couple of downsides worth mentioning.

The resort attracts families, which can sometimes make the atmosphere feel less intimate compared to smaller homestays. If youโ€™re a solo traveller looking to connect with others, the larger resort environment may not foster as many opportunities for social interaction as a homestay might.

Additionally, while the resortโ€™s amenities are extensive, the size can feel overwhelming at times, especially during peak hours when the pool area becomes crowded. If youโ€™re looking for a quieter experience, consider visiting during off-peak times or opting for some of the less busy areas of the resort.

This is the kind of place that helps you catch your breath and feel human again โ€” ๐Ÿ‘‰ check availability here!

Pricing

Let me tell you a little bit about my stay at the Radisson Blu Resort in Uluwatu as a solo traveller when it comes to prices.

Obviously, when you travel alone, everything gets more expensive, but that’s something we have to deal with to get our own experience and freedom! The pricing at the Radisson Blu Resort in Uluwatu is reflective of its luxurious offerings.

Rates can vary depending on the season, but you can expect to pay around $250-$300 per night for a standard room. This price includes access to the resortโ€™s amenities and breakfast. While it may be on the higher end for budget travellers, I found it worth the investment for the level of service and comfort provided.

My suite with the panoramic view was around $500 per day, including breakfast and the free massage.

In summary, my stay at the Radisson Blu Resort in Uluwatu as a solo traveller was a wonderful experience. From the stunning views and luxurious accommodations to the exceptional dining options and cultural activities, I felt looked after 24/7.

While there are a few considerations to keep in mind regarding the family-friendly environment and pricing, I really recommend this resort for anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of Bali in style and is up for a real treat!

โœ๏ธ Bali Travel Planning Guide ๐ŸŒด

Before you start your unforgettable journey to Bali here are the essential tips every female solo traveller should know:

๐Ÿ“ฑ Do I need an eSIM for Bali?

โœ… Yes. Having data from the moment you land makes your trip so much easier. I recommend Ubigi eSIM, which connects instantly without queuing at the airport for a SIM card and works better than other eSIMs I have tested. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Get your Indonesia plan now

๐Ÿš‘ Should I buy travel insurance for Bali?

โœ… 100% YES! โ€” My #1 safety tip for all travellers is to buy travel insurance for every trip in case anything happens during their visit (and yes, Bali belly is a thing!). I highly recommend HeyMondo – you get 24/7 support and it’s budget-friendly!

๐Ÿ’งCan you drink the water in Bali?

๐Ÿšฑ No โ€” Itโ€™s recommended to drink filtered or bottled water in Bali (I even brush my teeth with filtered water).

๐Ÿฉ Whatโ€™s the best way to book my Bali accommodations?

My go-to for Bali hotels is Booking.com. For hostels, I normally go for Hostelworld (you can also filter by private rooms if you want!). If you love pets you should consider Trusted Housesitters, you would get free accommodation in exchange for looking after amazing pets โค๏ธ

๐Ÿ’ Whatโ€™s the best way to book my Bali activities?

Get Your Guide and Viator are the best ones. You can go through the reviews to learn more about each activity and they have amazing customer support!

๐Ÿ›’ Will I find tampons in Bali?

Yes! However, they are hard to find! Get the guide with the list of sellers and Google Map here!

๐Ÿš• How can I book my taxi in advance from the airport to my accommodation?

I always recommend reserving your taxi in advance via Klook. This is because it will ask you for flight details and the driver will be able to track your flight in real time. I would book my taxi especially when I fly to new places or get there at night time! If you want to rent a car, Klook is still your best bet. They have cars available to pick up right at the airport! For scooter rental in Bali, go to BikAgo.

๐Ÿ„๐Ÿฝ Where can I book surf camps or yoga retreats?

Booksurfcamps.com is the best for surf camps all over the world. Use Bookyogaretreats.com for the best yoga retreats in Bali and worldwide.

โœˆ๏ธ What’s the best site to book my flight?

Skyscanner is definitely the best one out there! I love their “explore everywhere” function for when I need inspiration on where to go next! If you will embark on a long flight and you love showering in between flights or just using the lounges in airports all over the world, check out Lounge Passes on Klook, GetYourGuide or get a lounge membership on Priority Pass!

๐ŸŽซ Do I need a visa for Bali?

๐Ÿ‘ Yes โ€” US, UK, and EU passport holders can get the Visa On Arrival (Tourist Visa) valid for 30 days in Bali. Read more here)

๐Ÿ’ฐ ๐—–๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐˜†: The currency here is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR), and there are plenty of ATMs if you need cash. I always withdraw from ATMs to get the best rates (select โ€œnoโ€ when it asks you if you accept the conversion rate). The best debit card to use when travelling to Bali is Wise!

๐Ÿš• ๐—ง๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜€๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป: Getting around Bali is easy peasy! Rent your scooter on BikAgo. The alternative would be getting a scooter taxi using Grab or Gojek which are safe and cheap in major places like Ubud, Canggu and Uluwatu. You can also book your private driver!
