How to find the Campuhan Ridge Walk in Ubud?
The Campuhan Ridge Walk is one of the best places to visit if you want to go for a beautiful walk or an early morning run. It’s also the perfect escape into nature, away from the bustling streets of the town centre. This scenic trail, winding through rice fields and dense tropical greenery, has become a must-visit for a walking path with breathtaking vistas. However, for many travellers, finding the entrance to the Campuhan Ridge Walk can be a bit tricky. In this blog post, you will find out how to find the Campuhan Ridge Walk in Ubud.
What is the Campuhan Ridge Walk?

Before we dive into the directions, it’s worth understanding why the Campuhan Ridge Walk is so special. This 2-kilometre path, situated along a ridge between the lush valleys of the Wos Rivers, offers panoramic views of the surrounding hills and rice paddies. The trail is popular for early morning or late afternoon walks, as the sun casts a golden glow over the landscape, making it a photographer’s paradise. I would recommend visiting in the morning and going for a delicious breakfast at the end of the trail (there are quite a few cafes I will suggest in this blog post).
How Long Does the Walk Take?

The Campuhan Ridge Walk is a leisurely hike that typically takes around 30 to 45 minutes each way, depending on your pace and how often you stop to take in the scenery (and photos). The entire round trip can be completed in about 1.5 hours. If you plan to explore the nearby villages or stop at one of the cafés along the way, you might want to allow a bit more time. There is also a beautiful temple to visit just before starting the trail, so I would probably dedicate half a day to this visit if you want to take your time and visit everything you meet on the way!
How to find the Campuhan Ridge Walk in Ubud
Step 1: Start at the Right Landmark

The easiest way to find the Campuhan Ridge Walk is to start from the centrally located Ubud Palace, a well-known landmark in town. From here, it’s just a short walk to the trailhead. You’ll want to head west along Jalan Raya Ubud, the main road running through the centre of town.
Step 2: Look for the Warwick Ibah Hotel Sign

As you walk west along Jalan Raya Ubud, keep an eye out for the Ibah Luxury Villas & Spa sign on your right-hand side (see picture above). This is a key marker that you’re on the right track. The hotel is located near a bridge that crosses the Campuhan River, and the trail begins just before this bridge.
Step 3: Take the Small Road Leading to Pura Gunung Lebah Temple

Once you spot the Ibah sign, turn onto the small road leading downhill towards the Campuhan River. Follow this road until you reach the picturesque Pura Gunung Lebah Temple, an ancient site that’s worth a quick visit. The temple is nestled at the foot of the ridge and is surrounded by the lush jungle, creating a peaceful atmosphere that sets the tone for your walk.
Step 4: Follow the Signs to the Campuhan Ridge Walk

Just past the temple, you’ll see signs pointing towards the Campuhan Ridge Walk. Follow these signs, and you’ll soon find yourself on the path. The trail starts with a short ascent, leading you up to the ridge where the views unfold before you. As you continue walking, the noise of the town fades away, replaced by the sounds of nature.
Step 5: Enjoy the Walk
The Campuhan Ridge Walk is a relatively easy hike that is suitable for all ages. The path is paved and well-maintained, making it accessible even for those not used to hiking.
As you make your way along the ridge, you’ll pass by local villages, small art galleries, and cafés where you can stop for a refreshing drink. The trail eventually leads to the village of Bangkiang Sidem. This is where you can either turn back the way you came or explore further into the surrounding countryside.
Best Cafés to Visit After the Walk

After completing the Campuhan Ridge Walk, you’ll likely be ready to unwind and recharge. Ubud is home to several excellent cafés where you can relax and enjoy a refreshing drink or a delicious meal. One of the best spots to visit is Mamoo Ubud Café & Restaurant (picture above). Known for its laid-back vibe, Mamoo offers a variety of healthy and tasty options, including fresh juices, smoothie bowls, and Western and Balinese-inspired dishes.
Other great options include Karsa Café, located at the far end of the ridge, which offers a cool setting surrounded by rice paddies and a menu filled with organic, locally sourced ingredients. For those looking for something a bit closer to town, Sari Organik is another fantastic choice, offering farm-to-table dining with views that rival those along the ridge.

Photo Opportunities and Tips

The Campuhan Ridge Walk is a haven for photographers. The early morning light or the golden hour just before sunset are the best times to capture the ridge’s beauty for sure! The contrast of the green hills against the blue sky creates stunning compositions, while the mist often rising from the valleys adds a mystical touch to your photos. Make sure to head to the walk super early if you go in the morning. That’s because it’s quite a well-known tourist destination. A tripod is handy if you plan on shooting in low light. Also, don’t forget to bring a lens cloth to wipe off any moisture from the humid air.
If you need some shots for your digital platforms, do some research on the best clothing colours to match the greenery, I’ve seen a lot of girls wearing white dresses and they looked amazing! I went for a green dress and I could barely see myself in the pictures!

🏩 What’s the best way to book my Bali accommodations?
My go-to for Bali hotels is Booking.com. For hostels, I normally go for Hostelworld (you can also filter by private rooms if you want!). If you love pets you should consider Trusted Housesitters, you would get free accommodation in exchange for looking after amazing pets ❤️
🐒 What’s the best way to book my Bali activities?
Get Your Guide and Viator are the best ones. You can go through the reviews to learn more about each activity and they have amazing customer support!

🚕 How can I book my taxi in advance from the airport to my accommodation?
I always recommend reserving your taxi in advance via Klook. This is because it will ask you for flight details and the driver will be able to track your flight in real time. 💰 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆: The currency here is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR), and there are plenty of ATMs if you need cash. I always withdraw from ATMs to get the best rates (select “no” when it asks you if you accept the conversion rate). The best debit card to use when travelling to Bali is Wise!
🚕 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Getting around Bali is easy peasy! Rent your scooter on BikAgo. The alternative would be getting a scooter taxi using Grab or Gojek which are safe and cheap in major places like Ubud, Canggu and Uluwatu. You can also book your private driver!
