If Svaha Spa has popped up in your Ubud Spa research, you might wonder if it’s worth the splurge. That’s because this SPA is quite extravagant compared to others. After experiencing it myself, I’m here to help you decide! My spa experience at Svaha Ubud had a few hiccups, but overall, it’s been amazing and I felt super pampered 💆🏻♀️

My Experience With Booking My Massage
Booking my treatment at Svaha was incredibly straightforward! Their user-friendly online system made the entire process simple. I quickly browsed through the various treatments available, including massages, body scrubs, and unique packages. After considering my options, I decided to indulge in a 90-minute deep tissue massage—a true treat for both body and mind.
Now, let’s talk about pricing. The deep tissue massage is priced at IDR 940,000. While this may seem a bit more than what you might pay at many other spas in Bali, where massages generally range from IDR 150,000 to IDR 400,000, it’s essential to keep in mind that Svaha offers a premium experience that justifies the cost. A nice treat that maybe you can splurge on once in a while!
The Strategic Location

Svaha Spa is perfectly situated within a beautiful resort in Ubud called Kaamala Resort.. A short 10-minute walk from the hotel brings you to the spa, located by a lovely pool and restaurant that overlooks the sunset. The environment is peaceful and welcoming, with stunning views of the forest. You can truly feel the stress melting away as you approach the spa, especially if you are visiting during sunset time. I really enjoyed the 10-minute walk as the sky was turning from pink to red!
My check-in experience at the Svaha Ubud
Upon arrival, I was greeted by a friendly staff member who welcomed me warmly. The atmosphere was relaxing right from the start. The interiors are modern, and there is relaxing music and perfumes (not overwhelming but just settled and lovely). After a brief consultation about my massage preferences, I was offered a selection of oils to choose from. The options ranged from floral essences to herbal and earthy scents. There were probably 10 oils to choose from, I opted for the floral essence, which had a lovely fragrance without being overpowering. In the meantime, I’ve been offered a cucumber-based cold drink which I really enjoyed. The glass was very small (like a shot glass) but I appreciated it considering how hot it was outside!
After selecting my oil, I filled out a form regarding my health conditions and preferences. However, it’s worth noting that they didn’t ask about allergies—this is a detail they could certainly improve upon. I would have appreciated the opportunity to mention my allergy to cinnamon, especially since they offered a cinnamon tea during checkout.
The masseuse then guided me to the spa room—this was definitely the highlight of my visit!
The Spa Room At Svaha Ubud
As soon as I entered the spa room I got super excited about how spacious it was! It featured large windows that offered an incredible view of the surrounding forest. It’s all you need to let go of a stressful day and the journey on the scooter to get there! The room had two massage beds, a luxurious bath (used for some treatments), a bathroom and a private shower area.

Upon entering, I was given disposable undergarments and a robe to change into. Once I was comfortable, the masseuse left the room to allow me some privacy. I took a moment to appreciate the stunning view before my treatment began, thinking to myself how fortunate I was to be in such a beautiful location!
Actually, when I visited it was just after the sunset but there is some lighting outside so you still appreciate the forest outside even if it’s dark!
My Massage Experience In Detail

The treatment started with a delightful foot bath, where my feet were washed in fragrant water filled with petals. After the foot bath, I moved to the massage bed, which was super comfortable (I could fall asleep on a bed like this in no time!). My masseuse then began the deep tissue massage.
How Was My Massage?
The massage itself was expertly performed. She used firm yet soothing pressure across my back, arms, and legs, working out any tension I had built up over time. I found the technique to be just what I needed. The focus on my shoulders and neck was particularly satisfying; these areas often carry a lot of stress for many of us (especially when we spend long hours on our laptops!).
One detail that struck me was how attentive the masseuse was to my comfort level. She frequently checked in with me, ensuring the pressure was just right. I truly appreciated that aspect of the experience. I was also happy about the room temperature for once! Sometimes Spas would blust the air conditioner and I would freeze completely. However, at Svaha this is not the case and the masseuse checks if you are ok with the room temperature too!
The only downside was that the treatment didn’t include a belly massage, which I found a bit surprising. Still, it didn’t detract from the overall experience, as the rest of the treatment was fantastic. The head and face massage at the end was delightful and left me feeling completely relaxed. She also applied a soft eye mask for when I was facing up.
The Check Out experience
After the massage, I had a few minutes to relax in the room before heading out. Unfortunately, there were issues with the water that day, so I couldn’t take a shower, but the staff were apologetic and offered me a 10% discount as a gesture. A small hiccup, but the overall experience was still fantastic.

Room For Improvement!
👉 Language barriers caused some minor confusion during the treatment (I originally booked aromatherapy but I’ve been given a deep tissue). I loved it so no problems at all
👉 Allergies were not addressed, which could be improved (However travelling with allergies in Bali is not that easy as they are not taken seriously, so keep that in mind!)
👉 There was a water issue during my visit, affecting the shower and foot bath temperature. This was addressed with a 10% discount which was nice!

🚑 Should I buy travel insurance for Bali?
✅ 100% YES! — My #1 safety tip for all travellers is to buy travel insurance for every trip in case anything happens during their visit (and yes, Bali belly is a thing!). I highly recommend HeyMondo – you get 24/7 support and it’s budget-friendly!

🚱 No — It’s recommended to drink filtered or bottled water in Bali (I even brush my teeth with filtered water).
🏩 What’s the best way to book my Bali accommodations?
My go-to for Bali hotels is Booking.com. For hostels, I normally go for Hostelworld (you can also filter by private rooms if you want!). If you love pets you should consider Trusted Housesitters, you would get free accommodation in exchange for looking after amazing pets ❤️
🐒 What’s the best way to book my Bali activities?
Get Your Guide and Viator are the best ones. You can go through the reviews to learn more about each activity and they have amazing customer support!
