What does it mean “showers subject to availability“? I’ve asked this question at reception and I’ve been told that showers are always available however, there might be a queue. You will be registered and called as soon as the shower becomes available again. Personally, the longest I waited for a shower was 30 minutes but it really depends on how many people are ahead of you!
Where To Nap In Singapore Airport
If you need to squeeze a power nap before your next flight, you will be pleased to know that Singapore Airport has a “snooze lounge” in every terminal. Basically, it’s a quiet area with reclined chairs that are free to use!

This is a premium hotel connected to Terminal 3, offering full-service amenities. I would recommend this place if you want to properly rest and treat yourself!

Ibis Budget Singapore Joo Chiat
If you don’t mind taking a 20-minute taxi, I tried this cheaper hotel, which is not bad at all!
It’s on the east side of Singapore, not far from the sea. From here I woke up the next day and watched a stunning sunrise! It’s the Ibis Budget Singapore Joo Chiat. The rooms are pretty basic, but you will find everything you need. Plus, they have a water dispenser on the ground floor where you can fill up your water bottle!

Layover Ideas From Changi Airport
You have to see the waterfalls—no excuses! The HSBC Rain Vortex at Jewel Changi Airport is insane, and trust me, it’s even better in person. If you’re not already in Terminal 1, don’t worry—you can take the free shuttle bus from other terminals straight to Jewel.

If you’ve been to Jewel before and want to do something different, here’s a wildcard: Reformer Pilates by the Waterfalls. Yes, you read that right—a pilates class inside Shiseido Forest Valley with a view of the Rain Vortex. It’s honestly the coolest thing, and I was gutted I didn’t know about it earlier. These classes sell out fast, so book in advance!

Long Layover
If I were to tell you that I went to Singapore and timed my activities for this blog post, you wouldn’t believe me, but I have! I’m a perfectionist, it’s a gift and a curse! I’ll give you a few options, and you can pick what you want based on your time.
STEP 1: Getting Through Security – 10 minutes (I used the electronic barriers—super fast!)
STEP 2: Airport to Gardens by the Bay – 30 minutes

STEP 3: Gardens by the Bay and Flower Dome & Cloud Forest – 2 hours if you walk slowly, take pictures, and enjoy the views
The Flower Dome & Cloud Forest are insanely beautiful to explore, you can really see how Singapore wants to educate locals and tourists about the environment and nature. These places are covered with a glass ceiling so you can still visit on a rainy day!

The rest of the Gardens by the Bay area is free to explore—you could easily spend an extra 30 minutes wandering around.
STEP 4: Chinatown – 1 hour (including grabbing a cold drink and taking photos)

Keep in mind that you’ll need time for security and immigration again—for me, it took just 30 minutes, but it depends on how busy the airport is that day!

Water dispensers are available in nearly every bathroom, offering both hot and cold water for refilling bottles. If you don’t have a bottle, there are also small drinking fountains where you can take a sip directly. As for charging spots, they’re everywhere—you’ll find them by sofas, standing desks, and various waiting areas throughout the terminals. Whether you need to top up your phone while relaxing or get some work done at a standing desk, you won’t have to search for long to find a plug.
