Shower Facilities At DMK Airport

Image showing a corridor by DMK airport. There are signs guiding you to the gates.

There are no free shower facilities (like the dreamy ones in Dubai Airport) however, Don Mueang Airport offers 2 really decent lounges with a nice hot shower to bring you back to life before your next flight!

Here it goes:

Coral Executive Lounge -> Most convenient lounge

Location: On the international side is at Terminal 1 (3rd floor) just after security. On the domestic side is at Gate 51 and Bus Gate.

This lounge is the most popular choice and is available both on the domestic and international side of the airport. It’s called Coral Executive Lounge and it’s pretty affordable considering the level of service and the facilities offered!

The price hovers around $23 and here is what you get:

  • 3 hours stay
  • Our beloved shower in perfect conditions
  • Actual nice food which is pretty rare if you ask me
  • 15-minute complementary massage (depending on availability)
  • Plenty of plugs to recharge your devices
  • The usual free Wifi
  • Newspapers and magazines
  • Flight monitor

The Miracle Lounge -> Lounge with Sleeping pods

Location: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 – After passport control and security check

Coral Executive is the best when you think about price and facilities. That being said, if you need a sleeping pod or a slightly upgraded lounge, check out The Miracle Lounge.

It’s about $37 and is available on the domestic and international sides of the airport. The slot is 2 hours instead of 3 which you would get with Coral, however, some people would purchase 2 bookings if they need to stay for 4 hours.

This is what’s included in your booking:

  • 2 hours stay
  • Unlimited buffet food, beverages, alcohol and Wi-Fi
  • Maximum 2 hours stay
  • Shower Facilities, Smoking Room, Private Sleep Pod (read more alternatives later if you need to sleep!).
  • Newspapers and magazines
  • Flight monitor

Water Fountains In DMK Airport

Water facilities at DMK airport in Bangkok

I live in Bali and it really upsets me that there are no water fountains at the Denpasar Airport. Nobody wants to buy extra plastic or get to the next flight thirsty!

Luckily that’s not the case with Don Mueang Airport! You will find plenty of water fountains that provide cold and hot water.

The majority of these are right by the toilet, however, if you are in terminal 1, the best water fountain is by the waiting area. There is also a sink right next to it if you want to give a rinse to your water bottle first and you never have to queue to refill your water bottle because not many people know about it!

Are you intrigued by this waiting area? Keep reading then!

Check Out This Amazing Waiting Area

Are you ready to be wowed? Check out this waiting area, which blew my mind and gave me hope in humanity!

In Terminal 1 (follow the indications for gates 11-15) there is this cool place where you can have your own sit by a desk, work or eat, charge your phone, refill your water bottle, have a nice view over the flights taking off or landing…

The best thing? It’s not just comfortable and convenient, it’s also esthetically pleasant!!! I really liked the style and it felt cosy!

There is also another section where with more charging stations, seats and listen to this – there are even monitors showing a real-time video of each gate! Can you believe this? You can literally check if people are queuing already at your gate! Isn’t that insane? Thanks!

Fresh papaya available to buy at the DMK airport.

If you are not planning on using the lounge, definitely check out this area and snack on some healthy treats from S&P Simply Delicious.

I got some fresh papaya and small cakes to bring on the flight. The food quality was really good and it was pretty affordable as well!

Top tip: Don’t forget to get data for your phone during your layover! 👉 Ubigi eSIM is my go to! It is super affordable, easy to use, and you can get 10% off with my code OBSERVER10.

Where To Sleep In DMK Airport

As mentioned earlier you can get a sleeping pod at the Miracle Lounge, however, you can only book 2 hours at a time and you never really know if the sleeping pod will be available.

Here are a few more options for you:

#1 Sleep Box

The Sleep Box is in Terminal 2 and allows you to rest for 10 hours and literally be at the airport already.

However, this place is a bit cold because the aircon is shared with the airport and can’t be changed – if you don’t mind it, go for it! You would get a comfortable room, private bathrooms and all the amenities you need.

Price: Around £100

👉 Check Availability At Sleep Box

#2 Amari

This is the most comfortable option, right by the airport (not inside but next to it!). Amariis a super comfortable and elegant place with nice facilities including restaurants and a nice swimming pool.

I would recommend it if you have an early flight, layover or landing to DMK super late!

Price: Around £85

👉 Check availability at Amari

#3 Sabaidee Donmueang

Sabaidee Donmueang is a valid alternative near the airport (again not inside but within walking distance). Rooms are spacious and comfortable, it’s definitely a good place to crash for a night!

Price: Around $24

👉 Check Availability At Sabaidee Donmueang

Layover Ideas

If you have half a day or more available, go out for an adventure in Bangkok with one of these 3 suggested short activities:

➡️ Night scooter ride and local food

➡️ Dinner Cruise

➡️ Visit the Grand Palace

Luggage Delivered To The Airport

Silvia with her suitcase

If your flight is later in the day and you still want to enjoy Bangkok or go on a day trip to Ayutthaya, I would recommend you get your luggage delivered to DMK airport! It’s affordable and saves you plenty of time on your last day.

You normally need to check out of your hotel by 11 am, the alternative would be to leave your suitcase at the hotel and collect it later which is super time-consuming. The price of sending your luggage starts from $10 so it’s definitely worth considering it, especially if you are planning on being out all day!

How To Get To DMK Airport Or Leave The Airport

Waiting area outside DMK airport in Bangkok

Don Mueang Airport is about a 40-minute drive from Bangkok centre. Here is how the transport works:

  • 👉 Book a taxi in advance via Klook.com. This is something I always recommend for this airport because it’s easy and you don’t have to go crazy looking for a taxi or queue forever!

  • Call Bolt or Grab: This is a cheaper option, however, the airport is huge so it’s not easy to find the driver when it approaches. Alternatively, you could get a normal taxi by queuing.

  • Take public transport: The train is affordable and it takes 15 minutes to get to the Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal Station in Bangkok.

👉 Check out prices and schedule on 12Go, here you can also look at bus options!

Green travel backpack and carry on suitcase sit beside airport seats with a plane visible through the terminal window. Headphones toiletries a sleep mask earplugs and a reusable water bottle are arranged with the backpack as travel essentials.

FAQs About DMK Airport Shower Facilities

Do any airports have showers?

Yes! Most international airports do have showers, however, most of the time are not free. You would have to pre-book some lounges. Some of them are really affordable and they include a buffet as well as comfy armchairs to chill before your next flight!

Do I need to bring anything for the shower?

No really, when you pay for the lounge you should get shower gel and a towel. However, I bring everything with me because I always hope I can find free showers at the airport! So I would bring clean clothes, a tiny shower gel, a microfibre towel and flip-flops.

What’s the best site to book flights in Southeast Asia?

Skyscanner is the best site for sure. You can also use Google Flights to check prices but then you will have to move to Skyscanner to actually book the flight. You can also set up notifications that will go straight to your inbox when flight prices go down!

Does DMK have duty-free?

Yes it does, the duty-free area is just after security.

Best Thai massage before heading to the airport?

The Eden Spa is one of the best ones and easy to reserve in advance for your last day before your taxi to the airport!

Last Note On Shower Facilities At DMK Airport In Bangkok

If you want to shower at DMK Airport, I would recommend going to the Coral Executive Lounge. That’s because you get more out of your money.

Silly thing, but remember to have your clean clothes easily accessible in your bag. I roll them up and wrap them in a tight elastic band so they don’t take up too much space!

✍️ Solo Travel Planning Guide 🌴

Before you start your unforgettable adventures to a new country, here are the essential tips every solo traveller should know:

📱 Should I get an eSIM?

✅ Yes. Having data from the moment you land makes your trip so much easier. I recommend Ubigi eSIM, which connects instantly without queuing at the airport for a SIM card and works better than other eSIMs I have tested. 👉 Check current plans here

🚑 Should I buy travel insurance when travelling alone?

✅ 100% YES! — My #1 safety tip for all travellers is to buy travel insurance for every trip in case anything happens during their visit. I highly recommend HeyMondo – you get 24/7 support and it’s budget-friendly!

🏩 What’s the best way to book my accommodations?

My go-to for hotels or hostels is Booking.com. For hostels, I normally go for Hostelworld (you can also filter by private rooms if you want!). If you love pets you should consider Trusted Housesitters, you would get free accommodation in exchange for looking after amazing pets ❤️

✈️ Where can I book my flight?

Skyscanner is definitely the best one out there! I love their “explore everywhere” function for when I need inspiration on where to go next! If you will embark into a long flight and you love showering in between flights or just using the lounges in airports all over the world, check out Lounge Passes on Klook, GetYourGuide or get a lounge membership on Priority Pass!

🚕 How can I book my taxi in advance from the airport to my accommodation?

I always recommend reserving your taxi in advance via Klook.com. This is because it will ask you for flight details and the driver will be able to track your flight in real time. I would book my taxi especially when I fly to new places or get there at night time! If you want to rent a car instead, use DiscoverCars, they have cars available to pick up right at the airport!

🐒 What’s the best way to book my activities?

Get Your Guide and Viator are the best ones. You can go through the reviews to learn more about each activity and they have amazing customer support!

🏄🏽 Where can I book surf camps or yoga retreats?

Booksurfcamps.com is the best for surf camps all over the world. Bookyogaretreats.com is my go-to for the best yoga retreats worldwide.
