These places listed below are quite friendly as well so if you are open to meeting new people, you can always do that. In this blog post, I will tell you exactly the absolute best lunch spots in Ubud for female solo travellers like you, so make sure to save this post for when you need it.

Are you ready? Let’s dive in!

Best local lunch in Ubud

Best Lunch Spots in Ubud for Female Solo Travellers. Smoothie bowl at Soul Bites in Ubud.

My favourite lunch place is Soul Bites. This restaurant covers local and Western food. I’ve met quite a few people here as well and the staff is incredibly friendly. I’ve had Indonesian meals here before as well as the classic avo on toast. I would recommend their smoothie bowls as well because they are really well done and quite customisable as well! Soul Bites is a great option even for when you have to get some work done (check out this blog post for the best places to work from in Ubud). In terms of costs, I would normally spend between $5 and $10 here depending on how hungry I am! Super affordable.

Delicious Alternatives:

Sambal Society offers amazing local food and incredible social events as well. For example, last week they hosted a salsa class and a mindfulness art healing session. These events are not only fun to attend but it’s also great to make new connections and obviously taste incredible Indonesian food!

Best salad spot in Ubud

Best Lunch Spots in Ubud for Female Solo Travellers. Salad at Suka Expresso,

I know I mentioned this place before in my breakfast and dinner blog posts but Suka Expresso is super popular and delicious so I had to include it in this blog post as well! This cafe/restaurant is so successful it also opened in Canggu and Uluwatu. I’ve had the best salads here 100%. Even just a simple Caesar salad here is really good because the ingredients are fresh and juicy! I wish they had a loyalty card here because I would eat here for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Good to know about Suka Expresso

I normally don’t encourage any takeaway because it’s not an eco-friendly option at all. But if you are not well or are working until late and you have no choice but to order a takeaway – Suka Expresso is one of the best options in Ubud! They are seriously cutting their plastic when it comes to deliveries. Most of the food will be wrapped in paper or cardboard and it’s delicious + healthy!

Vegan lunch spot in Ubud

When it comes to vegan options (which are loads in Bali) I have to say the most delicious and convenient is the Garden Kafe by the Yoga Barn. This is because it’s right in the heart of Ubud (close to the Monkey Forest) and it’s incredibly peaceful. They serve a wide range of vegan (and vegetarian) meals including curries. Also, smoothie bowls here are colourful and juicy! Prices here are quite affordable, between $3 and $5 per dish.

Other vegan options in Ubud:

Sayuri Healing Food and Wild Vegan are also quite popular in Ubud as purely vegan restaurants. They are also quite central so easy to walk to if you are exploring Ubud for the day.

Generic western food

La Baracca Bali is a great choice if you fancy some Italian food. There are 5 locations in Bali of the same restaurant and I love the vibe here. Super relaxed, nice food and easy-going staff! This restaurant is near the Ubud Palace so it’s a great place to recharge after visiting the palace in the morning! Prices are quite affordable, a pasta dish is around $5 or less depending on your choice.

Other options for Western lunch in Ubud:

Nostimo Greek Grill Ubud is incredible and it’s right on the main road. You can get delicious Greek salads or grilled meat with veggies. Portions here are very generous so don’t order too much!

Another good one is GENIO by twist if you need some pizza before your afternoon adventure in Bali!

Best lunch place by the rice fields in Ubud

The Sweet Orange Warung is the perfect place when you want to treat yourself to a tasty lunch surrounded by stunning Balinese rice fields! This place is about 15 minutes walk from the Ubud centre but it’s completely worth it if you have extra time and you want to relax as well! A meal here is about $3 and it’s mainly delicious Indonesian food!

What if you want a packed lunch?

Grocery store in Ubud, Bali. It shows bright apples and lemons.

You can surely pack your food from home. However, there are 2 things to consider. The first one is that a lot of accommodations with a kitchen would have occasional ants wondering about. So unless you put everything in the fridge, before you know it, ants will eat your food! One thing you could store however is fruits and crackers or anything sealed. The other factor to consider is that unless you go to the local market, supermarkets are expensive. Locals would go to the market in the morning and they are actually very interesting to explore. One of the best ones in Ubud is by this temple, you should check it out!
